Local Outreach

At West we want to be obedient to Jesus͛ command to go beyond our church family to be advertisements for Him both in our local community and beyond.

In West this outreach is currently led by Mrs Rosemary Shaw.

Café Church

Cafechurch, when introduced to West, was designed as an outreach for those who have either no Church connection, or are disillusioned with traditional expressions of Church. It’s informal and warm atmosphere is extremely appealing to many people of various church backgrounds and is the ideal progression for those who have attended an Alpha course and are keen to continue their faith journey. You are welcome from 10:45 am with praise from 11.30 am followed by a time of worship and a short talk.

Alpha

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a talk and good conversation

Talk:

The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Usually around thirty minutes long, they can be given as a live talk or played as a video. They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from Who is Jesus? How can we have faith? to Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?

Discussion:

Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say. It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.

Easter Mission

This is one of the highlights in our yearly calendar. For 1 week each year the church is taken over entirely by over 250 primary school children being led through an exciting programme of singing and teaching about Jesus. The leaders are made up by all age groups, from 100 of our teenagers to some of our more mature members. Each year the parents of the teenagers are also invited along for an evening of desserts, entertainment and for an opportunity to see how their children have been serving.

The week is very structured and will normally follow a programme devised by Vacation Bible School (VBS). The excitement is best summed up by one child who asked her mother on the last day of the programme, how may sleeps until next year’s Easter Mission?

When

Holy Week each year at West Church. Keep an eye out for the registration date!

Mums and Toddlers

Mums & Toddlers meet every Tuesday in the Rathmore Hall from mid-September until the end of June. Holiday breaks coincide with local school holidays. We welcome all mums, grandparents and childminders with babies and toddlers of pre-nursery / playgroup age in their care. It is not a structured group but more a drop-in centre where our mums can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a chat and our children can play together.

When

Each Tuesday in the Rathmore Hall from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
