We are an intergenerational, all-ability church family – worshipping side by side, caring for one another, and seeking to be sensitive to each other’s needs.

In the summer of 1961, Rev. David Bailie was appointed as the first minister of a new church extension charge at Bangor West. Part of the Ards Presbytery, the congregation began with small gatherings in Carnalea House, just across from our present site.
Growth was steady, and on 8 September 1962, three foundation stones were laid. One year later, on 5 October 1963, the new church building was officially opened and dedicated.
Since then, the congregation has flourished – first under the ministry of the late Rev. Bailie, then under Very Rev. Dr. Charles McMullen (1999–2025) – growing to more than 1,100 families.
In 2021, Kilcooley Presbyterian Church joined with West, bringing together two congregations as one family across two sites.
