We are one of ten Scout groups in the Bangor area, and we meet on Fridays in the church halls from September to the end of May.
Scouting is the largest youth organisation in the world with over 250 million scouts, and its aim is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of the community. This is achieved by providing enjoyable learning and training based on the Scout Promise and Law and guided by adult leadership.
Scouting is now co-educational and open to boys and girls, and we at 7th Bangor have over 100 boys, girls and leaders enjoying a full and varied programme of activities based on years of experience.
We have around 20 Scouts and 2 leaders enjoying a varied programme of games, activities and badge work based on the Scout training programme. Much of our work is geared towards the outdoors e.g. hikes, weekend and summer camps, outdoor cooking, survival, exploring and sports including canoeing, climbing and mountaineering.
One section we currently do not have is Venture Scouting, which caters for the 15½ - 20 age group, but we are intending to restart our Venture Scouts Unit in the not too distant future.
Scouting is again on the increase and we are always on the lookout for enthusiastic adults and young people to join us.
