Young West | Youth | Scouts (7th Bangor Scout Group)

We are one of ten Scout groups in the Bangor area, and we meet on Fridays in the church halls from September to the end of May.

We currently have three sections catering for children under 11:

  • Squirrels: 4 - 6 years
  • Beaver Scouts: 6 - 8 years
  • Cub Scouts: 8 - 10½ years

Scouting is the largest youth organisation in the world with over 250 million scouts, and its aim is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of the community. This is achieved by providing enjoyable learning and training based on the Scout Promise and Law and guided by adult leadership.

Scouting is now co-educational and open to boys and girls, and we at 7th Bangor have over 100 boys, girls and leaders enjoying a full and varied programme of activities based on years of experience.

Squirrels (4-6 years old)

We have approximately 24 Squirrels with 2 adult and 2 young leaders. They play games, do simple craft and listen to stories in a fun atmosphere.

Beaver Scouts (6-8 years old)

There are 30 Beaver Scouts with 3 leaders. They too play games, have craftwork and learn teamwork and are able to join in together and most of all have fun.

Cub Scouts (8-10½ years old)

Our Cub Scouts are bursting at the seams with 35-40 turning up regularly for games, activites, badge work and camping. They learn to 'do their best' and to work together in a fun atmosphere. We have 4 adult leaders and 3 young leaders, some of whom are working for their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

Scouting is again on the increase and we are always on the lookout for enthusiastic adults and young people to join us.
