Then, West Girls’ Brigade is the place for you either as a young member or a new leader.
EXPLORER SECTION:
You can come along on a Wednesday evening from 6.00 pm to 7.15 pm if you are aged 3 to P4.
Here are some of the things we do: play games, sing songs, make things (and we’re really good at the messy stuff!), listen to Bible Stories, go on special outings and have lots of fun!
COMPANY SECTION:
Our Company Section is split into Juniors (P5-P7), Seniors (Yr8-Yr10) & Brigaders (Yr11+). We meet from 6.45 pm/7.15 pm to 8.30 pm/9.00 pm depending on your age.
We follow a programme split into 4 areas i.e. Spiritual, Physical, Educational & Service and we offer subjects that are fun and relevant to the girls.
We take part in competitions organised within the Bangor & Ards area and also by our Headquarters e.g. 5-a-side football, Unihoc, & duster hockey. We also take part in Choral Speaking, Choir & Marching competitions.
We follow the GBNI HQ Scripture Course which is relevant & encourages open group & individual discussions through workbooks.
From the age of 14, girls are given the opportunity to take part in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. We offer all 3 levels of the Award which is both challenging and rewarding.
The Brigaders are able to work for their Queen’s Award, which is the highest Award in GB, taking 2 years to complete.
As a parent you can be assured that your daughter is in a safe & secure environment where all the Officers & helpers have the girls’ best interests in mind.
Our new session commences on Wednesday 2nd September when we will have a registration evening & the opportunity to buy your uniform, either new or 2nd hand (in excellent condition) which we sell at ½ price. In addition, you will have the opportunity meet & catch up with other parents over a cup of tea/coffee & traybake, with donations going to the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children, which is GBNI’s nominated Charity for the next 2 years.
If you would like further information, please contact the Church office.
All new girls will be made very welcome.
