Our story

W
est Church came into being in the early 1960's and has grown to a membership of approximately 1000 families. From its early days it has sought to be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit and to bringing renewal in a gentle way. It is a warm-hearted and caring place to be.

There is much more to West than our Sunday services and in a large congregation we long for every member to experience fellowship through house groups or organisations.

In West we want to be a Church of the Word and Spirit where:
- God is honoured in all our worship;
- Jesus Christ changes lives;
- We aim to welcome and care for everyone;
- We encourage God's people to discover and use their Gifts;
- We reach out in love and service;
Until we arrive at real maturity - the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13)

We realise that we are by no means a perfect church, but we invite you to browse through these pages to get a fuller picture of all that happens in the place.

If you are thinking of coming to West for the first time you can be assured that you will be made welcome.

West Website

T
he original West Church website was set up in 2001 by Tony Crockford, a member of the church. This was West Church's first steps into the new internet age. Tony faithfully updated the site with new items & announcements.

In 2006 the site was redesigned by another member of the church, Matthew Blain, using content from the original site. Audio sermons were a new addition & in 2007 a small selection of streaming videos were introduced.

In 2008 Stephen Cully became the church co-ordinator and took over maintenance of the website. Stephen has introduced booking form features and has successfully trained other staff in updating news items.

The West Church website has been recorded by Archive.org and historic versions of the site, dating from July 2001, can be seen at: web.archive.org
